NSERC is a canadian government agency dedicated to the promotion and support of scientific research in natural sciences and engineering. The agency supports university students in their advanced studies, promotes and supports discovery research, and fosters innovation by encouraging Canadian companies to participate and invest in postsecondary research projects.

The CEMRS was a Montreal-based not-for-profit corporation supporting technological innovation in decontaminating and rehabilitating sites, and promoting industry expertise in this field. The CEMRS, which contributed to the establishment of the Chair in phytotechnology, ended its activities in 2013.
